GTA 5 has been one of the most popular games since its release in 2013. But as years go by, even this masterpiece starts to show its age. That’s why I decided to take matters into my own hands and remaster GTA 5 using various mods that breathe new life into this legendary title. In this article, I’ll walk you through how I achieved this remaster, highlighting the key mod categories: graphics, vehicles, and scripts.
Why Modding GTA 5?
Mods have always been the backbone of keeping games like GTA 5 fresh. With mods, you can tweak the game’s visuals, add new content, and push its boundaries beyond what was initially possible. As we hit the 11th anniversary of GTA 5, I thought it was the perfect time to remaster it using the incredible variety of mods available today.
Step 1: Graphics Mods – Boosting the Visual Experience
The first thing I did in my remaster was overhaul the graphics. While GTA 5's visuals were state of the art in 2013, newer titles have raised the bar. So, to catch up with them, I added a few key graphics mods to enhance textures, lighting, weather effects, and general atmosphere.
Chromatix: This is one of the best graphics mods in the community, transforming the lighting system, reflections, and environmental effects. The mod captures the real-world Los Angeles vibe, making the game look as good as, if not better than, current-gen games.
Realistic Reshade Presets: The reshade mod helps in altering the color tone, contrast, and brightness to make the game more cinematic. It softens harsh lighting and gives a more natural feel to the game.
Step 2: Vehicle Mods – Drive Stylishly
Driving through the open world in GTA 5 is perhaps its best feature, and the upgrade of vehicles couldn't be missed. Although plain vanilla cars are nice to have, adding real-life vehicles gave a fresh approach to the game.
Actual Car Mods: So many in-game cars were replaced with real life, such as Lamborghinis, Ferraris, and even classic muscle cars. This visually enhanced it but added a new sense of realism to driving.
Step 3: Script Mods – Adding New Features
Graphics and vehicles are important, but script mods are where the magic happens. These mods helped me bring in new mechanics, game features, and overall quality of life improvements.
Menyoo Trainer: A versatile mod that allows me to spawn vehicles, teleport, change character models, and activate many cheats. It was an important aspect of customizing my experience while remastering.
Enhanced Native Trainer: Another powerful tool that further extends the in-game options. It offers more options for character customization, improved control over time and weather in the game, and camera settings fine-tuning.
New Gameplay Mods: Added the Gang and Turf mod, which brings the old gang war mechanics of GTA: San Andreas to life, and a Zombie Apocalypse mod, which brings a whole new way to play the game by making it survival-based. You can access all mods from here
